Nice shot Ken.

I agree with Birma that the stream is very nice and rocks support it. Hard to say if this would have been better with closer or further. Looks like a great place for slow shutter experiments.

Here is something a bit different from me. It is based on 'intentional camera movement' although I like the term blurry-graph! I like the ways it deconstructs the picture into the base colours and then gives an overall texture. This was taken on the last day of our summer holiday. The weather was rather mixed and we were sitting on the rocks by the sea, watching rain clouds pass by over the green sea.

It does create a very pleasing tones and colors, I agree with that. And such a way it convoys something from the feeling of that place. I could see an exhibition where there were two kind of pictures, normal and these, and through the colors and ligh they would work together. Normal ones could be about the outer world while abstract ones about the inner world. I guess what I'm tryingto say is that these sort of pictures need a framework where they fit in. When they are looked only as a one piece they naturally get harder to get into, because in some ways they question the way we are used to look a landscape picture.

Birma, that's a very imaginative "blurry-graph" you have there. I like how the lines separate the colors, and textures into three distinct groups creating a well defined subject that appears undefined. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks The Hefay - yes, I think I understand - it is the simplification of the picture in to colours and texture that attracts me too.

I had to straddle a couple of rocks in the stream in order to get this shot. Fortunately I stayed dry.

I love the black color (or absent of color) in color photography. It usually gives photograph a certain weight. It does for this too, but I would try to raise the shadows a bit just so that viewer sees that it is rock wall. Now I was unsure for a moment - but maybe that is your intention.

Toni, thanks for the input. There's a lot going on below the horizon and in the foreground of this picture. There is a green leafy shrub right in front of me, dead branches rising up, and the canyon wall is textured yellow to gray. I darkened the lowest exposure shot and cropped it because I felt like the image was cluttered. Had I been able to stand in a different spot the composition would've been much better.

Here is a trees on the horizon picture from me. On my recent autumn mists shoot (see separate topic) I eventually had taken as many misty telephoto shots as I could, and then I needed a bit of wide angle therapy, so I stepped back and tried to capture the grass and trees, looking in to the rising sun.

A99 with Sigma 12-24 mk 1. I like this lens a lot. You have to very careful with the sun in the frame - but it is fabulous super wide. Still learning how to get the best out of it.

WAT - a new acronym is born

Arenal Volcano, from our "chalet" in Arenal Lodge, Costa Rica. Our lodge was high in the mountains and
the room type we selected (called chalet), has floor to ceiling glass window facing the Volcano. The lodge
was in a rain/cloud forest too.
This was a bracketed shot (5 shots) composed in Luminance HDR and slightly adjusted in LR. All the operating
settings of Luminance HDR are in the photo title.

It's a natural looking HDR which is the HDR-style that I like. Nice view from the lodge for sure!
