Re: Landscape 2014
Great views you have there Pitter. I like that each picture tells a different story about the location. All very nice compositions.

Re: Landscape 2014
An early winter's morning looking east from the Malvern Hills, near where I live. The sun was still below the horizon, with the early hint of a golden sunrise showing above the horizon. The lights from distant roads and houses still show up like in a night-time view, but the gloom is starting to lift from the countryside. This seemed like a thin curtain between night and day. Within a few minutes the sun will rise, the little electric lights will disappear and the morning will appear. But before that happens we have this short glimpse of the light between the two worlds of night and day.

This was taken after the sun was up. I really like the way the light looks when you zoom in with a telephoto; you can see rays of the low sun raking through the low mist, over the frosty fields. I also like the layers that the hedgerows make, and the long shadows of the trees. This sort of view is something that is hard to capture with the naked eye as the sun is too strong for us to focus in to the light like this.

Great shots Andy. I really like the light beams and shadows in the last one.
Re: Landscape 2014
Agree those are great shots especially the last which makes deep space look like a flat tapestry,

Re: Landscape 2014
Superb stuff from Birma as always. You need to do couple of mediocre pieces as well, otherwise you're killing us..

Sinan,
10mm? That looks excellent even at an equivalent of 15mm.

Thanks Sury.
Sigma 10-20 is not the best ultrawide lens around but it performs well if you can afford to stop to F16. But this usually means a little ISO increase for hand held shots even under bright sun as seen in the example.
For APS-C Tokina 11-16 is performing much better but its too heavy for my taste as I like to travel light.

Thank you Toni !
Nice wide angle picture Sinan. You've controlled the polariser well. I've had problems with a polariser on such a wide angle. Grew sweep of the road, and I like the cowers on the riad's verge in the foreground. There are a couple of flare spots which would be quite easy to clone out just to neaten thing up a bit

Sunset Beach, Kauai. Bracketed shot tone mapped in Luminance HDR and tweaked in LR and Photoeffects 8.

Re: Landscape 2014
Hi Sury, I like the setting sun casting long shadows and the focus of the people all looking out to sea. there is a bit of a tilt to the horizon that you could straighten fairly easily, and the sky looks a bit green - a nudge to the WB would help there. A nice reminder of summer warmth
