Grand Canyon Redux

From a recent trip to Grand Canyon. Hot day (40oC+) at ~7000 feet (2000+ meters) did not make for
a pleasant stay except for the scenary....

Wonderful colours and textures on those rock formations.

I like the second and the third shots for a little more drama; colours and large dark patches of shadows add to the grand scale of things in the overall scene. I'd prefer the rail not to distract our eyes in the third one, though. Good trip memorabilia.

Thank you Yildiz and I see what you mean by the railing as a distraction.
As sun was setting this stone in front of me was partially lit due to some boulders behind me.
It was almost "magical" that sunlight was coming through the gaps in the boulder in such nice
geometric shape and having that "glow".



It was so bright and hot, the lighting was almost flat and had to resort to bracketing to cut back on the
light. I forgot my ND filter otherwise that would have been of some help.



I could not remove the hand without losing the landscape...so I didn't..

Those rock formations look amazing, Sury. Lovely detail and amazing colour. Can't remember if you're a Lightroom user but if you are have you played with the de-haze slider. Great for cutting through haze in the distance, or adding it!

Thank you Andy. The de-hazing slider is added to the latest release (LR6) and I have an older version.
I could run the photos by PS and remove haze by doing unsharp mask at high radius and low percentage.
Or it could be vice-versa. I can't remember now.
