Bokeh is the focus - Open thread

Well done guys. The flowers in my these shots were beyond their prime for photographing, but I thought the background blur and bokeh was little different. The lens used was an old MD 70-210. I really should've grabbed my tripod, but alas, laziness took over.

Nice red rose, Sury. Your garden is generating many photo opportunities once again.
I think you should share the comments to your and to JBTaylor's photo samples with your wife, Sury. How you got so much better and how the portraits and the flowers look more glorious with the 135 mm, could help with the convincing that Christmas is a little too late and that Summer is the most prolific for good photography....and maybe that life's too short to waste by waiting the right moment too. : ))

Lovely yellow Lilly, by the way. Maybe a little less brightness would let more details show? Flash light, I presume?

You mean something like this? This was taken with a Hasselblad 250f3.5 lens. I need to practice more with this lens.
Most of my shots are hit or miss. I also noticed that the same shot with HB lenses produces much bigger file too. Perhaps
it is capturing more details and I am not able to choose right settings in terms of sharpness and brightness. I just finished
processing some other shots and you will see my "failures" soon.

Focus peaking and expanded live view is awesome for this sort of shooting. You may have heard that there is a new 42mp monster out soon

Andy, I think you are throwing out temptation that is too great for Sury to handle.

I think A7RII with CZ135/1.8 acquisition should result in world peace. Right?
It looks like that combo is going to be about $75K if I can execute the plan.
Missus has heart set on a Corvette Convertible (mid-life crisis? ). I think getting her
that piece of metal is the only way I can get my piece of glass. Quid pro quo, I suppose.
