I forgot to note which lens was used for these flower shots. They were taken in 2007 with A100. Could be Kiron or Vivitar 90f2.5

Done good, going through the archives, Sury.

I like the second and the third one, the 'Bird of Paradise' plant, being my favourite, aesthetically and colour-wise. (lovely sharpness too)

Thank you David, Yildiz and JB. As I am processing some of my old photos with
new tools, I am beginning to realize that A100 was no slouch in image quality.
I am beginning to think it is Kiron 100-200 MD lens.

BTW, JB, I read somewhere that the "dreaded" (by me) 135 has very thin DoF
at 1.8. Does that mean at 1.8 you need tripod? Just curious.

Razor thin is probably the best way to describe it. As shown in my first post from the last session where I stated that I missed it by a hair, managing DOF is a challenge. Tripod is required in low light but a newer camera with better ISO mitigates that need. The a99 sensor probably gives results that allow hand holding up to 3200 ISO. Everything that I posted with that lens since last Saturday was handheld.

How is this for narrow?
f2.0. Subject seated next to me in restaurant/bar lighting. Hand held.

You did mention about Razor thin DOF and a subsequent shot too. As you can perceive
I am warming to the idea of getting one. I am thinking that combining A7RII with 135
may not be a good idea and doing it separately might work in my favor.
Buy the lens, wait for couple of months and get the camera for holidays. By then the 135
would have been forgotten.

I will leave the strategy of dealing with internal politics and finance to you. I do suggest that you rent the lens for a weekend. Shoot and post produce all you like. The only drawback that I have experienced is that it is a tough walk around lens due to it's weight and size. No hiding on the street with that thing hanging around your neck. You know what they say; big lens....
big lens cap.
Another thought, the 85mm 1.4 is a great lens as well . Minimum focus distance may be a drawback for flowers but the bokeh is right up there with the 135mm.
Lastly, check to see if there will be an SSM upgrade to the 135mm. Hate for you to buy one just before they make it an even better lens.
A note to the forum participants. I probably should have done this with Sury though the PM function. Sorry if we took away from the thread.

Thank you. 85mm would be cheaper but with 135 on A700, I can get some reach
in low light conditions (some Indian dance performances from friends' daughters on occassion).
I do have 85mm Rokinon though no comparison to CZ.. Weight is certainly a factor with
both my CZ24-70 and 70-400G, not mention my 200-500Tamron.
As for "internal politics", it is all in lighter vein as you may have already deduced.
Missus is all for "feeding" my passion.

If only I paid attention to window, this would have been a much better image....My only defense is
that those were my early days of photography. I knew not what I what I was doing, still don't but I idigress.
