Thank you David and Ken. This is an inexpensive Kiron lens I picked up on eBay for some 30 odd dollars.
I used to experiment a lot in those days, with extension tubes, reverse rings, close up lens etc. Should try
them again.

Not very old but I figure 2011 still counts.
Walking in the woods near a pond, I came across the leftovers of an industrious beaver. Given the nature of the marks, I must have scared it away. It doesn't take a vivid imagination to picture the animal.

Compositions in the first 2 are excellent. Third one leaves me wanting.
As for lighting, I find it difficult to describe why it doesn't work for me. The words harsh and hot come to mind.

Thank you for the comments. The lighting being harsh and hot, you couldn't be any more right.
These were taken at close up with flash. The combination of Vivitar 90mm/f2.5 producing strong
colors with my indiscriminate lighting, certainly made lighting harsh and hot.

I am agog with curiosity to find out what you found lacking in the third one though you did say you
couldn't put your finger on it. Hopefully you found it.

Hopefully these show a bit more temperate lighting conditions.

Thanks for responding Sury. It seems that #3 (in the initial post) is somewhere between 1 and 2 when it comes to what you want to show me or what I like to see. It's not wide enough to show me what the plant or bloom is (though I know what it is), and it's not so close as to be abstract. It is in between. Therefore, I am not sure what you are showing me.

Thank you. I see what you mean about the shot.
As for the LL, I think I am saved for now.
I need to get a Canon/Nikon mount adapter on my ARII.
That means first I need to get a ARII. So it is GAS and then
followed by LL.
That lens is a thing of beauty though. No two ways about it.

Back in 2011, a good friend of mine tried to qualify for the United States Open golf tournament. The qualifying round took place in Gaithersburg, MD. Three or four golfers (out of more than 100) would qualify on that day after playing 36 holes. Some members of our club went out to quietly cheer him on. The shot below shows one of those members watching with great interest.

I am not a big fan of dark glasses but the pose works well along with the narrative.
I wish the blur in the second one is a tad more so that the face and eye shades are
less drawing my attention. Did your friend make it? Just curious.
