A Devotee reciting at a Benaras Ghat

Unread post by Shelika Gaur »

One of the group of devotees totally absorbed in reciting the Hindu sacred scripture called Sunderkand on one of the about 80 ghats of Benares (Varanasi) on the Ganges --the most sacred river for the Hindus.

Very nice shot.

By the way the word ghat has two meanings:
1) a flight of stairs reaching a river
2) a mountain range (e.g. Western Ghats in India)

With best regards,
Sury
