Birds of JBTaylor are always worth a look. : ) My humble pick is "Outlier"; with that collective form of habitation and resting on that solitary, submerged tree is somethng extraordinary.
Thanks you Sury and Yildiz for commenting. The lens is nice and most of these shots were at 600mm and some are cropped. We were 10 miles into the gulf and the birds are much more sensitive to human presence than you might expect. The extra reach was critical to these shots.

Thank you both for commenting. A few words about the first image and about the a99 in general. I switched the camera to manual focus on the first shot. There is simply no way to pick a point of the scene to focus on and with the boat moving, it becomes even more difficult. I switched to manual focus and the whole tree lit up with focus peaking red. What a shoulder to lean on.
Regarding shots 4 and 5, I have been suffering from tendinitis in my left elbow for the last 2 months. It makes handling the big rig very difficult and painful. For those shots, I was able to rest the camera on the railing, manipulate the screen to a position that allowed me to frame and shoot from the waist. In short, the camera is easily a step up from the a900 except for the viewfinder in bright sunlight. I am glad I purchased the a99. I am sure Birma can back me up on this one.
Thanks again.
