I know that Nikon were switching to other chip brands to keep production going and to over come the flooding that nearly wiped them out, They are now using Sony sensorsStatistics: Posted by classiccameras — Wed May 25, 2022 10:45 pm

If camera makers want to get people interested, prices are going to have to come down. (once the chip thing is over!).I suspect cameras like computers, phones, etc. are going to be in shorter supply, harder to get, and maybe more expensive going forward for quite awhile. This short clip is good:Peter Zeihan: SUPPLY CHAIN, […]

R10 seems like a hard sell to me, much smaller buffer/battery, single slot. For what's on offer there really I think the price is far too high.1 Grand odd isn't going to fly for most for an "entry level" camera. Lot of DSLR's hit the spot at half that price, that's the sweet spot. If […]

Yes, the Canon M series have been good sellers and in particular the M5/50, people including myself liked the mini DSLR styling of the M5/50, even at that size Canon got the ergonomics about right. It seems that the R10 is the new entry level but it would have to come down to entry level […]

That shop in Japan is the business! Would be fun to wander around there.I've not really taken it in yet, it seems as I would expect going for the 7D crowd with the R7. The R10 is sort of "expensive entry level" to me, I can see how it might appeal as a more budget […]

Sony is ready to launch a GPS module

Sony can make GPS work. They pioneered it in the A55, refined it in the A77, A65 and A99 – and abandoned it without a word in all later A-mount cameras and the entire E-mount series. But they prepped the Multi Function Accessory Shoe to be used with a GPS module – and I believe . . . → Read More: Sony is ready to launch a GPS module

NEX-5 live sound

I’ve been using the NEX-5 with accessory mic – and sometimes, by forgetting to bring it, without. Today we had the Ripon City Morris side in town, and I was taking still shots using the Nikon D3X with the new Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 AF-S G lens. The NEX was grabbed as an afterthought for video.

Eyepiece magnifiers for the Alpha DSLRs

The launch of the Alpha 350, with its small 0.74X viewfinder, makes a proper eyepiece magnifier attachment an essential addition to the Sony accessory range. Olympus, Nikon and Pentax all have such magnifiers, which permit a full view of the screen for most wearers and make all the difference to the manual focusing and general . . . → Read More: Eyepiece magnifiers for the Alpha DSLRs
