Sony’s Alpha 99 – mastery wrapped in dilemma

A99 with 28-75mm lens

The launch of and initial reaction to Sony’s Alpha 99 has been spoiled, for many, by the overpricing of the camera generally and to a greater degree in some key markets. Should NEX go full frame?

E-mount with full frame shown at sensor plane and flange plane

Sonyalpharumours has posted a firm rumour that there will be a full-frame NEX. Anyone who understands the design of camera bodies, and the geometry of optical projection, has known from the start that this was possible given the design of the E-mount.
